Getting started
SpeedRunners 2 is simple to learn and brutal to master: four to eight runners on a looping track, and whoever falls off the screen is out. This is what you need to know before your first ranked race.
How a race is won
Everyone races the same loop. The camera follows the pack; if you fall too far behind, you drop off the screen and are eliminated. When only one runner is left, they win the round — rounds add up to a race win. Sets in the DART Circuit are first to 5 map wins.
Speed is everything
- Keep momentum. Slides, swings and drops carry speed; stopping, bonking into walls and bad landings kill it. Learn each map's flow before you learn its tricks.
- The boost bar. You fill it by running well and spend it for a burst — save it for the moments that decide the round, not the start.
- The grappling hook. Hook ceilings to swing, hook the runner ahead with the golden hook to launch past them. Release timing is the skill ceiling of the whole game.
- Read the screen edge. Being first is nice; being last when the screen closes is what matters. Sometimes the best move is not to overtake but to make sure you are not the one behind.
Items
Crates on the track give you a random pick-up. Rockets and fireballs go forward, crates and bombs go behind you, the shockwave and freeze ray are situational. The items guide covers each one — and the time-trial boards only count laps without items, so learn to run clean too.
Set yourself up
- Play the Basic and Advanced tutorials in Practice — they are short and cover every mechanic.
- Install the DART mod. Even if you never touch ranked, savestates, slow-mo and ghosts will teach you maps ten times faster.
- Join the Discord: lobbies, questions, clips, Time Trial Thursdays and the ranked queue all live there.
- When you are ready, link your account and queue for the DART Circuit — placements only take three sets.
